Simplicity at its finest is NOT what i would depict how my life was, nor would i suggest the continuation of my naivety however, as my life escalates into complexity, i hope to keep my optimistic hindsight on life in order to live. Just live. My personal ordeal is to live with no regrets, as though i will die tomorrow. I follow the path that will lead me to who I want to be: someone who people can confide in, to go to when they are in their deepest hour; that's who I want to be. That is my aim in life. Hobbies and interests make my path more flamboyant and enticing, while my family, pet, and friends are the reasons for my existence; the reasons why i try and improve myself. My lack of self motivation for change may be quite obvious, but it doesn't mean that improvement did not occur. It may be so petite, so small, that it's practically invisible, but i guarantee you, i do try. Indefinitely.

Schrödinger's cat

The Big Bang Theory, Season 1 Episode 17.

After watching this episode of BBT (A/N: for more information, links 1 and 2), I've decided to do some research on my own. To some point, this show is actually educational =) because not only is it entertainingly witty and intriguing, most of what they enlighten us with is true. Though, I do agree with most people that to understand their concepts of science and logic is quite difficult, it actually encourages me to actually take initiative and research for these concepts myself, via internet. Ah, don't you just love the internet =). Well, according to this website:
"Schrödinger's catis a paradoxical though experiment devised by Erwin Schrödinger that attempts to illustrate the incompleteness of the theory of quantum mechanics when going from subatomic to macroscopic systems. This means that there can be two different universes depending on the action taken which in this case is opening the box to see if the cat is dead or not. You can not say the cat is alive or dead until you open the box."
Because I don't completely understand the concept myself, I can't really summarise what I've read and hence, I'll just link you to these websites: 1, 2. I'll even throw in another video =) :

Schrödinger's cat video.

By the way, it was hilarious, yet perplexing, to read the comments to the BBT episode above because people were arguing how incorrect Sheldon's explanation was, or why Leonard kissed Penny at the end of the episode in order to see if Schrödinger's cat was alive or not LOL! All in all, BBT FTW =D !!!

PS. Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) is oh so funny! A downright, freaken genius xD !!!
PSS. It funny how school have started and I'm not going to school anymore. How odd.

stomach full of memories

3OO11O - Elton's 19th Birthday.

Our semi-formal farewell dinner for Derek was held at Dooley's, Lidcombe, for everyone's convenience. It was also a congratulatory dinner for Derek's cadetship =) It'll just be a shame that his social life will disappear for the next few years *sigh*. Anyways, I'm happy to say that the food was satisfying and fulfilling =D. The dinner was mostly for catching up with one another, and discussing our future plans in regards to university. Of course it wouldn't be our usual dinner without the pranks ie. rohypnol pepper in the drinks, the stealing of food and the sniffing of pepper (Thanh) LOL!

Groupie : FAREWELL DEREK xO !!!
The girls.

It also wouldn't be a celebration without the sparkle bomb =). Although it was OVER 500, it wasn't as epic as Wendy's birthday sparkle bomb =/. Apparently, people assumed that it was because the fuse broke, the whole at the top was too large, it was because it was too deep into the ground or it passed it's maximum point of epic-ness ... *coughvickycough*. I would like to thank Derek and Wendy for funding the drinks and sparkles, Derek for driving us home, Cindy for the photos, Wendy for the hospitality and Thanh for carrying me back to Wendy's house because I couldn't last any longer in my heels xO. Good food + great company : unforgettable night =).

So how's it like to run from the end of John St., with long, cargo pants and a black shirt, all the way to Cabramatta station on an empty stomach (unless you count half a cup of water food) and with only a couple of minutes to spare before your train comes? Not good. But to be called a champion, I'll let it slide =D. So we had lunch today at Maxine's mansion-looking house, prepared by Maxine herself! One was pasta and the other one was fried grated potatoes with vegetables =). The grated potatoes one had an interesting taste to it; tasty =).

We pretty much hanged around her house, waiting for her to cook for us hahaha and it was nice of Yvonne, Shirley, Wendy and Derek to bring their university student magazines and games over to play =D though we would've been satisfied with just the table tennis and the massage chair =D. I thought our discussion about animes was quite hilarious; I think we all agree that the minds of Japanese males are quite perverted xD. By the way, it was interesting to know that aloe vera can stop itchiness from mosquito bites, heal cuts, etc. while eating bananas would reduce the chance of being bitten due to the chemicals which is emitted from our skin after digesting it, because mosquitoes do not like that chemical. It was quite handy to know this because thanks to Yvonne and Maxine, my swollen and mosquito bite feet temporarily felt fine =). So you see, you don't need to go to school to learn something new every day =). Anyways, after some fun in the park, Maxine drove us home YAY! All in all, I enjoyed your company Maxine, and I hope you enjoyed ours as well =) THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD, HOSPITALITY AND FOR DRIVING US HOME MAXINE!!! WE LOVE YOU =) !!!

PS. CONGRATULATIONS KELLY for getting her red Ps =D  !!!
PSS. It was fun riding Eric's new scooter however, the sound of heels scraping against concrete indicates that I should learn how to brake...
PSSS. It was also hilarious when Minhky's "HOLY FARRH!" became a meme LOL! Thanks to Cindy for capturing our attempt of Minhky's meme =).

patriotism all around

26O11O - Julie P.'s 18th Birthday & Australia Day.

For the first time in my life have I celebrated Australia Day, which was this year. Not that I don't care about my country, but my family never celebrated it, so I didn't either. Yesterday, we went to the city to experience city life on Australia Day. It seemed like a normal day, with a few things out of place, and extremely crowded in others, ie. Darling Harbour. We cruised around the city on a vintage bus, watched some live entertainment at the harbour side and watched the flamboyant fireworks =). I think we all agreed that it was much better than NYE but, maybe that's because we were closer this time. Either way, the fireworks was highlight of the day. Oh, I would like to thank Eric, Stephanie T. and Thanh for waiting in line for us at Pancakes on the Rocks, because it was extremely crowded. Lucky people and their double pay rate for that day =.=. Before we went home, Thanh and Michael had a Mr. 32 cm ice cream race, and Michael won xD. One word: karma. LOL!

Thank God I said to go there earlier, or else I would've been late and hence, would've taken longer to finish my enrollment. Yes everyone, I've enrolled into USYD today, thanks to Eric and Thanh. If they weren't there, I'll most likely be lost. The enrollment took longer than I expect O_O so I couldn't visit the Maritime Museum and MCA today *sigh*. There's always next time >=). It was strange how I met so many people today ie. Cathy N., Rowena, Fiona V., Jessica T., Rebecca C., Anne N., John and Mimi. I don't usually meet people and when I do, it's usually 1 or 2, not 8+ lol =P. But it was nice seeing them all =D. We ate at Poporo before we went home. I took Eric's recommendation of the 'Terimayo Hamburg' and it was DELICIOUS xD. Beef with mayonnaise on top, cooked vegetables and rice =D. Thinking about it is making my mouth water xD I think I shall eat there again next time =D. I'm glad it's all over now; I just need to wait til O-week, and receive my timetable, and then I'm good to go for uni =). Once again, I would like to sincerely thank Eric and Thanh for accompanying, helping, and shouting me food today =).

PS. I DROVE IN THE RAIN TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME =D !!! From Cabramatta to home, approx. 5 minutes, but it was better than nothing =D. Mum said it was a practice run so she told me not to write it into the log book =/ Oh wells, practice makes perfect =).

virtual reality becomes real

 23O11O - Cathleen's 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
24O11O - Duyen's 18th Birthday.
25O11O - Jessica H.'s 18th Birthday.

I've actually been kind of lazy with my blogs xP It's not as long as it used to be, but at least I'm still consistent with them =). On Thursday and Friday, I went to the city. For Thursday, before going to the Chinese Garden of Frienship, we went to Ichiban Boshi for food. I usually think Japanese food wasn't that fulfilling but boy, was I proven wrong =P. Both of us ordered the unagi-ja (eel) (A/N: I'm happy to say that it was the first time Eric tasted eel before, and he actually likes it =D). I almost couldn't finish the meal even though I was famished, and believe me when I say I can eat a lot when I'm famished LOL =).

We pretty much relaxed/slept at the gardens, listening to the waterfall and all, for 3 - 4 hours LOL! I know what you're thinking, and Vicky did voice it out too: "so you travelled all the way to the city to just sleep?" I guess so =). But I mean, stay in a stuffy room and sleep, or be out in the open and sleep, hms... I'll let you to decide on that one. Vicky and Michael went to Fitness First for the free trial period =D. We couldn't bother going because we're just lazy =). After that, we just met up and went home =). First time going home early, on the same day, with Vicky LOL!

On Friday, a group of us went to Norita to play games for half the day LOL! For me, I played mahjong for the first time, in real life. I used to play it on my computer, but I don't have the game anymore. It was fun, but I wished I actually won a round xO. Others played other games like Jenga and Pool. I never realised we actually had to pay for the game as well. I thought we could just play the games, for free, as long as we all ordered something from them. We then left for Markets by the Moonlight, at The Rocks. We also looked at some artworks along the way =) ie. Infinity forest. The rest of the night was just spent at the markets, eating, talking and walking =). Eventually, everyone left, so we went to French Riviera for some ice cream before we headed home as well =).

PS. Thanks Eric for the scarfs =D.

Wednesday 20 January 2010

next stop: USYD

Today, I finally got my passport photo taken, claimed for government paid glasses and received my long awaited episodes of D.N. Angel, One Piece and Battle Royale (the movie) =D. Another good thing that happened today was that I finally got to drive in the dark =D! Technically, it's dusk, but it's better than nothing =D. Finally, the best news for today was that I got accepted for my first preference: B Health Science/M Nursing at University of Sydney =D YAY!! Also, CONGRATULATIONS to those who received their main round offer as well =D!!! Mum is finally stress free =).

challenge accepted

19O11O - Nelson's 19th & Shirley C.'s 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU GUYS =D !!!

So my day didn't go according to plan, but it was still just as good =). Eric came over to play at my house YAY! A visitor hahaha =D I haven't had one in ages! As usual, we played some computer games and just chat until around 4PM, when we left to meet his uncle at his grandma's place. It was a pleasure to meet his uncle and cousins because they were quite a happy-go-lucky group of people hahaha! Most of the time, we were just winging it =). I also get to watch X-men Origins: Wolverine in his uncle's car xD How awesome was that?!

So we had dinner at T.C Pizza Brothers, in Bankstown. I would like to rate it an 8 or 9 out of 10 because the ingredients were fresh, the services was pretty good and you get a lot for a cheap price; overall, the pizza was worth your buck =). Eric challenged me to eat a small supreme pizza by myself; I accepted his challenge. He end up paying for my meal >=) YAY!!! Free food is always the best! You might be thinking 'small pizza, pft, I can do that too' but, like, no joke the pizza was overflowing with ingredients. It may look small, but it can fill you up for the rest of the night. Then again, I DID manage to fit a McFlurry into my stomach ... but I shouldn't have because I feel extremely bloated right now LOL! Yeah, we pretty much spent the rest of the night chatting away in Maccas =) and they sure made me laugh hahaha! Tonight was fun, I wouldn't mind doing it all over again =).

PS. Dear Vicky, your "no pun intended" joke doesn't work xO, or maybe I just can't tell it properly... either way, I embarrassed myself xO !!!

Monday 18 January 2010

beginner's luck

So I went to Villawood's AMF Bowling centre to bowl for the first time YAY!!! I guess it was a pretty big deal that it was the first time I've ever bowled. According Jess, bowling was supposed to be part of your childhood, and experiencing it as an adolescent well, I guess a part of my childhood went missing and I didn't even know it! Is it possible to miss something that you didn't even know existed? Like honestly, not just for bowling, but for other things in life; can you actually miss something when you've never encountered it before? At the moment, I think it's hard to miss something when you never knew existed in the first place. Then again, I've only just lived for 18 years of my life =) maybe I'll find the answer to this question of mine in the future.

I digress. Anyways, because Kelly's cousin works there, we got a discount YAY!!! We payed $6 for 2 games instead of $15 for 3 =D. It took me a while to grasp the concept of rolling the bowling ball properly, but I got it in the end. I even scored a strike in my second game =D YAY!! My first time playing, and I already scored a strike WOOT WOOT! Am I good or am I good? hahaha xD It was pretty funny when Kelly tried to make Vicky lose, since she went home early, but scored a strike for her instead LOL! Thanks to Shirley, I got a lift home YAY! Anyways, that's about for tonight =D. Ciao =).

PS. CONGRATULATIONS VICKY for getting her Ls =D.

guilty pleasure

12O11O - Wendy H.'s 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY =D !!!

There were poker, musical cups, Tekken, Guitar Hero, slap jack and even a pinata =D. It was almost impossible to be bored at Wendy's party yesterday =D. There were plenty of food as well, so most of the time we weren't starving. Even if we were, we would go buy pizza and drinks to feed ourselves =). GREAT PARTY WENDY =D !!! I guess there are some things where there are too much to remember, and Wendy's party was one of them =D Of course it's a good thing, because it means she kept us away from boredom by providing us exciting and fun things to do =D. For example, with her Mr. Sun pinata, a birthday present from friends, it was oddly hilarious how hard it was to crack it open. After multiple of turns, Wendy finally made a crack. Derek decided to step in and with just 2-3 hits, he created quite an impact on the pinata. Eric and Edim had a go, and it was Edim's kick that finally made the lollies fall YAY! Sugar rush anyone?

Poker.
 Slap jack.

Pinata.

Make a wish Wendy.

Her theme was celebrity head shots and being the idiot I am, I came with a homemade cardboard frame, implying that my head shot was myself ;D Minhky, Derek, Nigel and Wendy were having heaps of fun playing with the photo shoots from magazines LOL!

Derek.
Nigel.

Wendy.
Minhky, the professional xD.

After the cake and all, we were about to watch a movie when Eric suggested that we make another firework for Wendy's birthday =). So we did, but this time we had 200 fireworks, 80 sparklers more than Vicky's firework. I guess the amount of sparklers used is actually quite important in regards to the radius and distance of the sparkler bomb xD. For Wendy, it was 13 times lucky, and it was sure worth the wait =D. Just when almost everyone was about to give up, Derek stood firm >=) Good for you =D. After the long wait, we were greeted by a spiral, flying sparkle bomb >=D It literally flew 100m over the trees! Thank God we were at a park because if that thing actually flew into residential area, we would've been in deep sh*t! Eric posted the video on his facebook, so please view and see for yourself how magnificent the firework was =D.
" I thought it was just going to sparkle and sizzle..." - Nigel. LOL!
Groupie.
Firework =D.

Thanks to Nigel and Derek for driving us a lot =D and thanks to Eric for the sparkle show =). To be honest, Wendy and I were actually quite worried about the guys because, although pyromania can  be addictive, it was still dangerous xO! Eventually everyone left and Derek, Michael, Stephanie, Wendy and I were left to continue watching Matrix After a while, Derek and I were left to keep Wendy company =). We just mostly talked about random things, life and all =) but unfortunately, even we have to eventually leave as well =/ Luckily, I get to see Wendy on her actual birthday, which was today =D YAY! We pretty much hanged around Cindy's house because we haven't seen her in a while. Between Vicky, Wendy, Cindy and I (with the exceptions of Piglet xD) it was pretty much chit chat, eating and watching this Singaporean movie. It was quite a perpetual and intriguing movie to watch =D. I hope I'll be able to finish the trilogy soon!!! It was about Asian parents, and the struggle of the less intelligent children with school and at home. It was quite sad and insightful actually but luckily, it ended up happily =D. We all got so emotional and stuff hahaha I'm glad I was able to watch the movie with them =D. Anyways, Derek came and whisk Wendy away for her family dinner, and Vicky and I headed for home =). Another day is over.

PS. Thanks David for the photos.

Monday 11 January 2010

no sh*t sherlock

Thanks to Vicky's sister, Melody, we (Shirley, Vicky and I) got a ride to Burwood YAY! Saved on train tickets =D. We met up with Eric, Thanh and Patrick to watch Sherlock Holmes. Actually, I didn't know we were watching it. All this time I thought we were watching Avatar, so when the movie started I realised the music didn't sound right, nor did the setting - d'oh! Rather than coming up with a review, you can just click on the link above to look at the synopsis yourself =) I mean, I don't want to ruin the movie for you because it was GOOD! I'd rate it a 8 or 9 out of 10 =D. Oh yes, I do agree that Jude Law (Dr. Watson) actually do look good in it =D. Though, to be honest, I think Holmes should've said more wise cracks =). Overall, it was a good movie with action, mystery, romance and comedy =D - definitely my type of movie =D. (A/N: Does anyone else, besides me, think there's bromance between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson?)

So after the movie, we did a bit of shopping before heading to the park =D. It was so pretty and big, and it gives of a relaxing feeling =D. We pretty much played around in the playground, talked, admired Thanh's collapsible bike and the boys' headphones and most of all, relaxed =). Shirley and Patrick had to leave, so the rest of us stayed to eat dinner before leaving as well. We ate at this Japanese restaurant and oddly enough, they gave us  two tables, making 6 seats, for just the four of us... I really wonder why. The place was pretty noisey because further down, there was a group of people trying out that egg catching food trick =D I want to try that myself hahaha =D but honestly, I dont think I'd eat at a Japanese restaurant for a proper dinner because I usually think that Japanese food just doesn't fill you up; sushi does NOT fill you up. Oh, and once again, thanks to Vicky's parents for driving me home. For a moment, I thought her mother was going to give me another lecture .. *cough* anyways that's about it for today =D. I shall blog very soon =D.

Sunday 10 January 2010

checklist

1OO1O9 - Vicky's 18th, Sophie's 18th, George's 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY =D!!!

So Vicky didn't want to celebrate her 18th, so we (Shirley, Maxine, Michael, Minhky, Eric and I) forced her to celebrate it instead. Surprise attack =D !!! So asking for her wishes that day, we made a checklist in order to check it off as we go along. We first headed off to Liverpool for some of the activities, like slushie and ice cream eating race, air hockey, running through a fountain, riding on those coin operated rides and climbing a tree. I would like to thank Vicky, for shouting us soft served icecreams, Shirley for losing the icecream race and then paying for the slushies as her punishment, and Eric, for buying a Time Zone card just to let us play air hockey. YAY I bought Vicky a strawberry cheesecake since she loves cheesecakes so much =D and I never realised cheesecake good taste so GOOD! Anyways, it was funny to see Eric and MInhky smash the 69 cents/kg watermelon with their wrists at Bigge Park ouch!

Proof of us doing the activities =).

The 'Sale' sign that Shirley and I stoled for Vicky =).

Watermelon for 69 cents/kg =D!

I had to leave after that, to my family dinner, while the others when back to Cabramatta to have a vegetarian meal before heading back to VIcky's house. Michael left us by then. I couldn't miss the family dinner because it was especially made for me, for doing well in HSC, and my mum was also shouting dinner as well. Apparently, she's been waiting for this dinner since forever LOL! We rarely shout dinner, after my parents divorced, so it's a pretty big deal to us; to me easpecially. It was a shame that the food wasn't as pleasing as it should've been. Apparently, to the adults, it was too salty/seasoned. They were used to the mild taste. Their conclusion was that the chef was changed, and that this chef was an amatuer. The service wasn't so good either =/ *sigh* it sucks that my special have to be ruined like this. It was okay to my cousins and I because, I guess, we're used to eating with a lot of seasonings and stuff. We've been going to that restaurant for a long time because we liked it. I guess we'll be changing restaurants *sigh*. Mum said it was the worst meal she had ever since she ate at that restaurant xO!

It's a shame, but I missed the firework which Eric made for Vicky's birthday xO. Michael and Maxine missed it as well, so I guess I wasn't alone. By the time I got back, it was just Vicky, Shirley, Minh and I. Shirley and I imposed on Vicky that we'll be sleeping over hahaha! So we had toasted marshmellows, but most of the time we were just having fun burning model pictures xD pyromania much? That pretty much failed, so we moved on to mash potatoes instead =). One with seaweed, and the other with too much butter LOL! I'm proud to say I was the FIRST to say happy birthday to Vicky because I was there in her room, next to her, counting down the seconds to her birthday with her =) YAY! BEAT THAT >=D !!!

 Bonfire.

 Bouquet of flowers from Shirley.

Wongfu Productions' 'Nice Guy' shirt from Minhky.

So after about an hour of video conference with Michael and Eric (A/N: we discovered the awesomeness of echoes through video calls), Minhky left at arond 2 in the morning, and I pretty much fell asleep at around 3 or 4AM; Shirley, Vicky and Michael stayed on much more. Gradually, we all went to sleep: Shirley went to sleep, then Michael logged off, then Vicky took a shower before she, also, went to sleep. Yes... we slept til 1 something in the afternoon. Roosty the rooster woke me up. You'd think roosters only crow during dawn, but no... We went to retrieve the reminants of the firework, and stayed in the house, playing wii and eating. Besides the usual red envelopes from family, Vicky received a bouquet of flowers from Shirley, a Wongfu Productions 'Nice Guy' t-shirt from Minhky, a card from Michael and a donut shaped chocolate cake from Melody, her sister. It looks oh so good, with the macaroons and the nuts on top =D. The message said 'Not a birthday cake.' LOL! HAPPY SUNDAY/PONY/HAPPY DAY VICKY =D !!!

The chocolate cake which Melody, Vicky's sister, bought for her.

Remnants of the firework...

PS. Thanks for the photos Vicky.

water snail, i choose you

So we went to Bondi beach on the 8th, just last Friday. Honestly, I don't really like cold water that much, so I preferred oozing into the waters slowly. Alas, the others thought not. All of them ganged up on me and threw me into the water xO! LOL I quickly ran back out screaming, but what the heck, I was already wet.

For the first time, I learnt how to body board YAY! I thought it was kind of dangerous, seeing there were so many people there, so I prefer not to play it too much. The salt water was also getting to me. My eyes, ears and mouth were all suffering from the sudden increase of salinity LOL! Ironically, we ate seaweed when we came back up LOL. We had so much salt from the water that the salty seaweed tasted normal to us.

Derek and Kenneth got bullied but an 8 year old girl: Cian (pronounced as Cy-An). LOL! She was Brandon's cousin/niece. You'd expect Kenny to get bullied, but it was kind of strange to see Derek getting bullied guy a girl less than half his height LOL!

We went to the rock pools and raced with snails LOL! we found urchins and crabs; it was pretty awesome =D. Viausto, Derek and Brandon decided to swim from the rock pools, all the way back to between the flags. The distance was actually quite far. Viausto made it the whole way, on an empty stomach! Derek made 3/4 of the way, while Brandon made 1/2 the way *applause* YAY! Good on you guys =D! If it was me, I think I"ll stop after 25m or something LOL! My durability, in regards to swimming, isn't that strong =P. I think I should go swim more this Summer holidays =D.

Almost all of us got sunburnt. For me, it was my lips however, there were others who were seriously burnt ie. Vicky and Derek LOL! For most sunscreen, it's supposed to be applied on, 20 minutes before going into the water again however, Vicky just applied it and jumped straight in LOL so no wonder she was so sunburnt. You can also see her tan lines too since she was wearing a singlet LOL!

Groupie picture @ the beach.

Maxine, Vicky, Kenneth and I.

After the beach, we went to eat at Ton Ton, before going to Time Zone. That was only because there wasn't a movie at a time appropriate for us. For that night, Maxine slept over YAY though, we were too tired to talk through the nigh, like what people usually do during a sleep over. It's strange how they call it a sleep over when most of the time people didn't sleep at all. The English literature sure is strange...

PS. Thanks Brandon for the photos.
PSS. There was an incident when we got out of the water, Vicky said "the water feels warmer here," and coincidentally, Maxine was helping me out of the water and so I thanked her right after Vicky's comment LOL! If you put two and two together, you'll know why it's hilarious ROFLMAOS!

Wednesday 6 January 2010

try, try, try again

O6O11O - Zakaria's 20th BIrthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAK =D !!!
O5O11O - Jason H.'s 18th Birthday.

Another day was spent at the universities but it wasn't for Open day; it was for Information Day instead. To me, there's no difference besides the lack of freebies on Info Day compared to Open Day. Nothing much happened besides hanging around the city with friends =). It was nice seeing some friends there like Peter D.2 and his brother, Jessica P., Jenny and Jason. Stupid Peter, he called me on the bus when he was right behind me LOL! Being the idiot I was, I kept calling back until he finally called my name from behind. It was also nice to make new friends too =D. I made new friend today, Brandon Nguyen, and apparently he's cousins of Tina and Jessica P.. Is this a small world or what? LOL! Congratulations to Jenny because she's choosing law at UNSW, and seeing that she received the scholarship for UNSW, she will definitely make it into the course =D.
Wendy and Vicky were lucky to receive early birthday presents from Derek and Eric =D. Wendy received the Country Road wallet she always wanted (thanks for pointing it out to me Wendy!) and Vicky received the Katsu and Don plushies =D. Besides Eric, Thanh, Patrick, Derek and I, everyone else went to karaoke at Echo for 3 hours. I would've joined them but I had a feeling that I'll fall asleep during it all, and I didn't want to spend my $10 like that. I was right, I started feeling extremely tired and sleepy later on in the day. Due to the lack of sleep from the last 2 days I guess =P. Anyways, it didn't matter that we didn't go karaoke because we had fun at Prize Paradise, trying to win Vicky some plushies. Okay, so Thanh kind of cheated by reaching up and grabbing the toy, but we DID pay our fair share of the prize so it was not stealing. I've got to admit, it was quite amusing to see how hard we tried to lift the toy closer to the hole and then letting Thanh grab it by the leg. It was also quite strange how we got away with it all LOL! I mean, getting one toy wasn't suspicious, but getting 2 of the same kind is just ... odd. Luckily, the employees were too busy with their own stuff and there weren't any security camers around either =D. In this situation, this quote would be most suitable:
"If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again." - William E. Hickson.
The meaning of this quote can be seen from this link. Of course, there are other similar quotes said by different people, in the end they all mean the say thing: keep trying. The rest of the hours were spent at Hyde Park, and then we went back to meet with the others. Most of the people have left already, so we just went to eat at Burgerlicious, then to Time Zone, before heading home.

PS. Someone brought a duckling to UNSW. HOW CUTE!!!
PSS. Thanks David for getting me that hot dot =).

Monday 4 January 2010

mood: satisfied.

Why am I sastisfied? Hms, well two things happened today: I went yumcha with my mum; driving. It didn't really matter if it was to yumcha or just to the corner shop, but it's been quite a while since I last went out with my mum =). It's nice to have some bonding once in a while with my mum; I'm quite content about it =). I've also learnt some interesting things about my Chinese culture during yumcha. Chinese people sure are weird O_o. We spent about $25 on yumcha for the both of us =D. The other thing is that I drove today, but what makes it extra special today is:
  • that I successfully did a reverse park. Of course I still need practice, but I'm getting there.
  • the 2nd good thing about driving today was I drove to a new area: Fairfield
  • the 3rd thing is I've started to learn how to park. It's not fun at all =.=.
  • finally, the last good thing about driving today is that I've finally driven over 20 hours YAY!!!
It was quite depressing to hear how there's more honks, hoots and profanities than usual. It was until later, when we arrived home again, that mum realized I didn't put my L plates on *gasps* no wonder they were so aggressive towards me today! They thought I was an extremely incompetent full license driver LOL! *sigh* I wonder when I'lll eventually reach 120 hours ... ?

Santa Baby ;D

O3O11O - Christina L.'s, Susan V.'s 18th & Kimberly L.'s 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

This song is OH SO CATCHY xD. Hope you'll love it as much as I do =D. I know Christmas is over, but think of it as a late Christmas pop-like carol =).

Santa Baby - SNSD version.

Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt

Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree,
For me.
Been an awful good girl,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa baby, a 54 convertible too,
Light blue.
I'll wait up for you dear,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Think of all the fun I've missed,
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed,
Next year I could be just as good,
If you'll check off my Christmas list,

Santa baby, I wanna yacht,
And really that's not a lot,
Been an angel all year,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa honey, there's one thing I really do need,
The deed
To a platinum mine,
Santa honey, so hurry down the chimney tonight.

Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex,
And checks.
Sign your 'X' on the line,
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight.

Come and trim my Christmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's,
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me,

Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
A ring.
I don't mean on the phone,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry down the chimney tonight,
Hurry, tonight.

PS. I like this version because it's SNSD ;D. Of course, some of the singers are pronouncing the words wrong, but I think their vocal control and range are quite good =). For Asians, their pronunciation ain't bad, especially when most of them barely knows English LOL!

forgotten childhood

O2O11O - Brenda T.'s 18th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

On the way to Circular Quay, the girls (Maxine, Shirley L., Mimi, Vicky) and I started bringing up our childhood memories. We were easily fascinated and satisfied with just our imaginations. Our environment fed us with possibilities and excitement; our happiness could last for hours. We thought, what happened to those good ole' times now?

Children of the next generation were easily bored; a rush of adrenaline from computer games and consoles which quickly diminishes into boredom. It may be convenient, but I think technology makes us pay a heavy price: decrease in eyesight, lack of imagination and too much dependence on it. Children of the 21st century are harder to satisfy because of their given options; by saying this, children in the olden days lived harder lives than the childrens of this generation and hence, just appreciates what they had in front of them, unlike the children now.

I was thinking to myself, if I had children I wouldn't let them play any computer games until he's at least 10. Hopefully, they'd still listen to what I say at that time. When I first started high school, I was thinking to myself 'why isn't anyone playing any games?' but as I got older, I finally understood why: we got lazy. The most child-like game I saw during high school was handball, skipping ropes and elastics. I remember how, in primary school, we played Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Beyblades, clapping games, skipping, elastics, cooking with vegetation, running games, etc. Now, it's just PS3, X-Box, Wii, etc. No wonder our generation's becoming obeses. CHILDREN AREN"T PLAYING ACTIVE GAMES ENOUGH!!!

I sure miss childhood, except for the bullying. You know, bullying actually does change a person, whether for the better or the worse. It's shame that bullying advanced to cyber bullying; they just get harder and harder to ignore don't they? I digress. It's a shame that we can't turn back time, or play those childhood games again when we're older because people'll just think we're retarded or something *sigh*.

welcoming 2O1O with friends

Observatory Hill was our destination to see the  fireworks =D. A group of friends, and I went to save a spot before it got too crowded. We arrived there at around 11 something in the morning; there were quite a few people there already. I  guess it was a good thing that we did go early, even though we'd have 13 hours to spare lol.

For the next 13 hours, we spent it with games, food, locating the different toilet areas and exploring our city. You'd be surprise how many different and new places we saw even though we've lived here for so long; you'd think we'd know every inch of our city by now lol. Now Shirley, Vicky and I found our own hiding spot at the city that only us 3 know =D well ... out of our friends anyway =D. YAY!

Gradually, more people came, and more friends came along =D. We were enjoying each other's company and for a moment, we bathed in the sunlight. Only for a bit =) That's a lucky thing  I guess because it got kind of humid. It was a shame that behind us and in front of us were smokers =/. Although more friends came along, it was a shame to see a few leave us later on, like Maxine xO. She left too early! She didn't even stay long enough to enjoy at least the 9 o'clock fireworks with us =(. There'll always be next year =D. Again, I made more ex-Seftoner friends =D! I must know like almost 1/2 the grade, or more, now =D.

When it was nightfall, we gave a call to Cindy to sing her happy birthday before the day was over =D YAY! Then again, we were singing happy birthday every 2 or 3 hours or so throughout the day, only because other people were singing it as well LOL! There were also some random cheering moments. Of course we cheered and screamed along, although we didn't know what was going on LOL! We were also singing 'Livin' On a Prayer' by John Bon Jovi quite a lot as well hahaha =D We thought it was an appropriate song for the day.

It was a nice surprise when Eric and Wendy came because Eric said he wasn't coming and Wendy said she wasn't sure if she was coming. The more the merrier I say =D. Eric even brought sparklers and boppers with him YAY though playing sparklers in a crowded area was a bit dangerous, a few of us got injured by the sparks xO I hope they're okay now.

After 9PM, they would tease us with fireworks for every hour, increasing the suspension. As it got close to midnight, they did it every 15 minutes or so. Vicky and I were waiting for the toilets and we almost lost our position because Vicky wanted to go back for the fireworks. I guess it wouldn't have been so bad to lose our position, but the thing was we were busting to begin with. We didn't go earlier because we thought we'd miss the fireworks *sigh* we practically held it in for almost an hour or so xO. I think they should have more toilet cubicles and tissue paper. Then again, I don't think I want to go to the toilets again at night on NYE anymore =.=. Vicky and I were talking to this woman in front of us, and apparently she was a nurse at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and that she's been a nurse for approx. 15 years already =D. I shall aim to go there and be the head nurse one day xD. You know, it was quite freaky when going back because it was so crowded and chaotic. If it Vicky didn't held my hand as tightly as she did, I think I would've gotten lost in the crowd and become stranded or something xO. THANKS VICKY =D!

Then came midnight with the fireworks. It was just spetacular =D. Apparently the symbol on the Harbour Bridge was the ring of fire (@ 9PM) and ying and yang (@ 12AM). This year's suppose to be revolving around 'spirit's or something. I'm glad I spent it with my friends. I wish more people came; I hope they had just as much fun as we did =D. Hugs, kisses and greetings were all around =D. Vicky and I shared our first hug of the year, while she shared her first swear word with Minhky LOL! I received my first kiss, on the cheek, from Shirley =D yay! You know, I thought I'd die from the group hugs because I felt I was suffocating LOL but I'd do it again anyways =D. I wish I said more for my greeting, but I had so many things to say. So instead of saying a bunch of stuff, I just said 2 things:
Happy New Year everyone; I would like to spend the rest of my new years with you =).

The 12 o'clock fireworks.

It's a shame that I lost my black and white checkered scarf *sigh* bought it with my own saved money. But if I was to choose between my scarf and friends, I'd definitely choose friends =). I would like to thank Eric and Shirley for going back to look for my scarf. They couldn't find it, but I thought it was very sweet of them to do something like that for me =).

We got separated because we were taking Hong back to the station. Some were walking faster than others, and it was getting really crowdy and chaotic. Luckily, we eventually found each other =D YAY! Thank God nothing happened to us! After that, we went to look for food. Finally, after a couple of hours, we found refuge at Pepper Lunch. For the first time, since I started hanging out with Vicky, Vicky finished first =D. She was THAT hungry. I'm pretty sure everyone else was =D. I never realised food can taste so good when you're starving lol.

It was around 4 in the morning when I got home. Another late night out. I didn't really want to go home after 1AM, but this is differen, i guess; it's NYE =D. Anyways, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone =D let's welcome 2O1O with smiles, laughter, happiness, love and success =D.
